Public Safety Complex Study
Williamsburg, MA
The Town’s Police and Fire stations present a significant challenge to the community. The existing structures are inadequate and have safety issues. The Town’s police force and fire department currently share a building, and there is an additional fire house in the center of town. These structures are in dilapidated condition and woefully undersized. Interior and exterior finishes are compromised as are windows, doors, roof and heating systems.
DRA was selected to study the feasibility of a new Public Safety Complex to house Police, Fire and EMS under one roof. The Town had identified three sites as possible locations for the facility; Helen E. James lot, Mass Electric/National Grid lot and Town Offices lot.
Our services included, site analysis, wetlands investigations, programming, conceptual design and cost estimating. The 10,000 SF one-story slab-on-grade facility has double deep drive-through apparatus bays, sally port, evidence storage room, meeting/training rooms and related offices and conference rooms. Study completed in 2015.
