Clinton STEM Center Feasibility Analysis

The Town of Clinton selected DRA to perform a feasibility analysis of the historic former Central Fire Station. The iconic facility located in the heart of the community was evaluated for reuse as a STEM Center/ Maker Space.

The existing multi-story masonry structure, built in 1898, includes approximately 12,700 SF of existing floor area. Options evaluated the existing space, as well as additions ranging from 4,000 – 5,600 SF.

It is envisioned that the principal users will be the 1,900 students of Clinton Public Schools system. The STEM Center will support hands-on, project-based learning opportunities. Here students will learn to think creatively, to collaborate with others, and to apply learning across disciplines in an active, technology-rich environment.

The STEM Center will also serve as a shared community resource that will support workplace readiness, foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and enrich the quality of life for all community members.
We verified the adequacy of the existing structure and its fitness for the proposed use, led community outreach and programming exercises, explored options and alternatives, and developed probable costs for each of the option.
