Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School

The proposed new Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School aims to be a modern, flexible, and sustainable educational facility. It is a compact, three-story design with separate entrances for buses and cars. The building is organized around a large courtyard and the main entrance provides direct access to the Student Commons, which also serves as the cafeteria and the lobby for the gym and auditorium.

The first floor includes high bay shops, classrooms, administrative offices, and the district’s business office, with a multi-functional auditorium that includes retractable seating and a portable stage.

A secondary customers’ entrance located at the south-west corner of the building will provide direct and secure access to the Culinary Arts restaurant, Cosmetology salon, and Early Childhood program, while post-secondary Nursing spaces and the adjacent post-secondary Cosmetology spaces share their own dedicated entrance.

The career technical shops are grouped in career clusters and located near general academic classrooms, allowing the program the flexibility to be organized into Small Learning Communities, including a potential Freshmen academy on the third floor.

The palette of building materials has been selected with maintenance, durability, and cost-effectiveness in mind, including masonry, aluminum & glass curtain wall, insulated metal panel, and insulated precast concrete panels.
