Bristol Fire Station Addition/Renovation

The initial plan for the fire station consisted of a 400SF addition for female firefighters and 1,250 SF renovations with a total project cost of $600,000. After this was approved by the City, a new Fire Chief was hired that made changes to the program. The new plan includes four new sleeping rooms, a new kitchen with commercial food service equipment, ADA compliant male/female toilet/shower facilities and a garage for the smaller apparatus. We prepared two separate design options using the new program of spaces, which were presented to the Owner. After review and feedback from the user group, the option showing an addition at the rear of the building and renovations of the existing sleeping/ kitchen/toilet areas was selected for further development. This option was also presented to three different “Fire Board/Commissions” for their review and approval. The total area of the new addition in this option is 850 SF compared to the originally approved 400 SF.
