Greater Lawrence Technical High School
Andover, MA
The Greater Lawrence Technical High School is one of the largest school renovation projects in New England. Our work began as a feasibility study that revealed three areas of need – enrollment growth, curriculum alignment and physical facilities.
The design for the technical school included 250,000 SF of renovations and a 90,000 SF addition that enabled the school to increase enrollment from 1350 to 1625 students and offer two new career areas in biotechnology and telecommunications which responded to needs identified in a survey of the local business community.
DRA also provided services for improvements to lighting, ceilings, and building systems, as well as bringing the school up to life safety and handicapped access codes and roof replacement. New construction provides new shops and science classrooms arranged into academies reflecting the school’s program changes, a new dining area and Culinary Arts instructional facility, a student-run retail store, and increased space for administration. The project was completed in 2004.
This project involved the renovation of:
- Lecture Hall
- Classrooms
- Administration Space
- Library/Media Center
