Westford Academy Theatre
Westford, MA
The Westford Academy Theater, built as an addition to the existing school building, houses 850-seats with stage rigging, lighting and sound packages and was designed to take full advantage of the existing site slope as well as existing building floor levels. The facility can accommodate the production of major theatrical and musical performances for the school and community theater groups.
DRA collaborated with acoustical consultants, Cavanaugh Tocci Associates, to develop the space with versatile acoustics suitable for modern community theater space needs. Mechanical systems for the space were designed with utmost care required to minimize noise interference during stage performances. Fly space was constructed at the stage to enhance the professional level theatrical rigging installation. The catwalk, concealed from spectators’ view at the Auditorium ceiling, provides easy access to the theatrical lighting components. The control booth, located at the back of the Auditorium, serves as a hub for all theatrical technology components.
